describes herself as lifelong Democrat.
She wrote an eye-opening article titled:
"The Culture of The Smug White Liberal."
Note the contradictions of what the Democratic Party
claims it stands for and what it actually practices.

When you present people with facts that are contrary to
their deepest held beliefs, they double down on their beliefs
There are psychological mechanisms that make people resistant to information that runs counter to their own beliefs.

We have motivation to find or pay attention to evidence
that confirms our views, and to ignore evidence that runs
counter to them.

Where beliefs actually get stronger in the face of evidence,
because people spend effort bolstering their views.
The old are not really smarter than the young,
in terms of sheer brainpower. It is just that
we have already made the kinds of mistakes that
the young are about to make, and we have already
suffered the consequences that the young are going
to suffer, if they disregard the record of the past.
